Movistar tour de Pologne 2011

7th Stage: Kraków – Kraków (128km)

I think the internets lost interest in this tour…… i am missing info except for this:

1	Marcel Kittel (Ger) Skil - Shimano	2:50:00
29	Luis Pasamontes Rodriguez (Spa) Movistar Team
38	Carlos Oyarzun (Chi) Movistar Team
43	Angel Madrazo Ruiz (Spa) Movistar Team
70	Marzio Bruseghin (Ita) Movistar Team
118	Rubén Plaza Molina (Spa) Movistar Team

1	Peter Sagan (Svk) Liquigas-Cannondale	26:40:01
36	Carlos Oyarzun (Chi) Movistar Team	0:02:56
41	Angel Madrazo Ruiz (Spa) Movistar Team	0:05:55
43	Marzio Bruseghin (Ita) Movistar Team	0:07:03
51	Luis Pasamontes (Spa) Movistar Team	0:12:27
81	Rubén Plaza Molina (Spa) Movistar Team	0:23:34

Even my friends at movistarteam.com stopped reporting this stage race.
Luis Pasamontes finished over 12 minutes behind, I hope he spent that time looking for my cordless-extension chord I requested from him, (since he is there) although that item was Poland’s top export and the only place on this green planet one can buy such an appliance, spending 12 minutes looking for one is a quite drastic time!

Stage 6: Terma Bukovina – Bukowina Tatrzańska (207.7km)

Daniel martin out-pedaled Yellow jersey wearer Peter Sagan for the stage and overall lead. We (Movistar) finally have a chance at a stage win tomorrow! The tour has been a good test for the young riders to gain experience in a European Stage race, and if Louis Pasamontes returns with a cord-less extension cord that I requested from him, the tour would be a success!

Stage 5: Zakopane 201.5km

Vasili Kiryienka could not hold on to his breakaway lead with Pydgomyy as their 8 minute gap was caught by the peleton headed by Rabobank and Movistar in today’s 5th stag eof the Tour d Pologne. Peter Sagen won for the second straight stage by great riding from hi s teammates. Vasili did pick up 9 mountain points and ranks 9th to Rusian Pydgomyy’ 45 points. Movistar still has marzio Bruseghin at a close 33 seconds behind the leaders’ jersey.

Stage 4: Oświęcim – Cieszyn (176.9km)

Marzio Bruseghin of Movistar finished in the top 30 in today’s stage and is only 10 seconds behind Peter Sagan. Movistar rode well enough to keep Marzio in the top riders classification.  Vasili Kiryienka finished a surprising 13 minutes behind and is show signs of fatigue from a great spring. Hopefully he can rebound or ride as a supporter for Marzio Pasamontes and  Oyarzun whom are still in this Tour of Pologne.

Aug 2nd Stage 3 Będzin – Katowice 135.7 km

That dude did it again, Arms up and all before crossing the finishing line!
this time only one arm, pumped! As for Movistar riders, Carlos Oyarzun is our closest rider to the overall by rankings because of his point from Stage 2and his top finishes.
There is a lot of road and positioning to be decided before Saturday’s final stage including tomorrow’s stage in the south of the country that includes four categorised climbs, including three ascents of the category one Kat Tauron.

Movistar cycling Tour of Pologne 2011

Aug, 1st:  Stage 2: Częstochowa – Dąbrowa Górnicza 162km

Movistar finished together again for the second straight stage of the 2011 Tour du Pologne. That Kittel guy won again, in a sprint, with his arms raised in victory with 20 meter in front of the finish line. I never seen a win celebrated so early in all my years of cycling! (watch all 8 min of the finish) The team will look forward to Tuesday’s stage to separate from the main group and race for the stage win, which is rolling as stage 2.

July 31 Stage 1: Pruszków – Warszawa 101.5km

Movistar team riders did well in today’s first stage in the 2011 Tour de Plolgne. The shorter than usual course was a sprinters delight, heck even a peloton’s delight as the entire field, (except 5 riders) finished the within the same time. Today’s first stage was flat, and featured a 90km breakaway that was caught with 10km to go in the stage. Kittel timed the sprint perfectly and overpowered Kristoff and Chicchi to take the stage, his 9 victory this season. The Movistar riders will try their luck and skill in Monday’s Stage 2 ride from Częstochowa – Dąbrowa Górnicza that is 162kms.
Results after Stage 1:

Past Movistar Reviews:

This tour does not ring a bell for me………I do not remember our team winning a stage, or getting any success in Poland. Perhaps the event was held in mid-September or the season was over and Cassie D’Epargne Iles Baleares never promoted or included this tour results on their website these east years.

Anyways, from the great Movistar team website: The most important stagerace in Eastern Europe hosts Movistar Team for the seventh time in its event since the Tour de Pologne was first included into the select calendar now called UCI World Tour in 2005. With shorter stages but yet the same usual hardness of previous editions, in a race usually marked by bad weather conditions in the Tatra Mountains, the Polish national course will roll again across the biggest cities in the country during a 7-day competition where cycling’s world elite will be present.                                                 READ MORE>
